Born in Dublin, Ireland, Dee Keegan is the fifth
generation of Masters within her family to practice the fine art of
crafting, restoration and conservation of fine furniture and interiors.
After a 4 year apprentice- ship through the Irish Guild System in
traditional finishes, Dee spent three years as a journeyman studying
and specializing in modern and Italian baked finishes.
In addition to establishing her own successful antique
furniture restoration business with her son, Dee has taught in the
art of furniture finishing, conservation and in the restoration of
antiques, both in the United States nad overseas.
Amongst other renowed institutions, she has tutored
at Sotheby's Restoration in New York and has lectured at New York
University. Dee has also served as an official apprenticeship trainer
for the Irish Apprenticeship Board.
Dee's son Gary Keegan (seen right) is the sixth
generation in a family of furniture trades. He is formally trained
through the Irish Apprentice Board "Anco" and served his
apprenticeship as a cabinet maker, wood carver, and sculpture at Higgenbottoms
and Keegans Restoration in Dublin, Ireland. He was employed at Sotheby's
Restoration, New York and for the past twenty years operated his restoration
and conservation business in Germany. Gary is one of the great master
craftsman of his time.
